JAVA FOR YOUR JOURNEY®
JAVA FOR YOUR JOURNEY®
In 1909, Walter Law left Wall Street and began roasting coffee in his father George’s barn at their home, ShadowBrook, in Dunellen, New Jersey. With a horse-drawn carriage, he traveled from house to house sharing his freshly roasted coffee. More than 115 years later, Walter’s family continues his legacy—importing and distributing some of the world’s finest coffees with the same dedication and passion.
We hope you savor the result of our family’s hard work and tradition, and that our coffee accompanies you on your life’s journey, wherever it may lead.
A FAMILY TRADITION
As Law Coffee persevered through The Great Depression, Walter’s sons, Robert, Warren and Stanley, came on board to help their father roast and pack the coffee, as well as tea. When the United States entered World War II, all three brothers patriotically chose to join the Navy and help defend their country. Warren, the sole brother to return from World War II, took on the responsibilities of running the family business and helped transition the company to Newark, NJ.
Warren expanded distribution throughout NY and NJ, establishing Law Coffee as one of New Jersey’s finest, independently owned and operated coffee companies. Warren’s son-in-law David M. Mendez bought the company in 1984 and along with Warren’s son, Robert, they expanded its area of distribution throughout the Mid-Atlantic & beyond!
David’s son, David W. Mendez, joined the business in 2004 and, in 2018 was promoted to President then acquiring the company in January 2020 thus continuing the family principles of quality and integrity into the company’s second century of existence.

Chef Walter Leffler – Director of Culinary Operations, 5-Diamond Culinary Consultants
My compliments and sincere thanks go out to the Mendez family and to the Law Coffee Company in general for all of their many efforts over the years. The quality and consistency of the products has always been spot on for me. They have consistently shown the enviable ability to properly train their staff in both product knowledge and in guest services and to me, as a Chef/Restaurateur, this directly reflects the moral fiber of the ownership. Keep up the great work.

As a family owned and operated company we’ve built our core values around the relationships that are built while doing everyday business. We are pleased to do business with WB Law Coffee as they hold those same values. The quality of WB Law’s coffees is reflected in their delicious taste. As the cornerstone of our in house coffee program, their service and professionalism is a great asset to our company. I had family members affected by Super Storm Sandy. In staying in communication with them, I was informed that of all the things that were being donated, there were a few key things missing. Laundry detergent, paper towels, and cleaning supplies were just a few. When H & M Wagner decided to put a few pallets together, we thought, OK this is great but we didn’t have a way to get the donations where they needed to go. That’s when Dave Mendez stepped in and offered to pickup our donation after dropping off our delivery and delivering the supplies on their way back to their facility. Talk about making it happen!
